I have recently developed an interest in using mixed media as a tool to both explore and convey my own diaspora identity and experiences. This approach feels so natural, perhaps because I have felt so in-between my entire life. These pieces are both self-portrait photographs that I have edited–to create contrast between light and dark–and then put into conversation with micro poetry.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Tina Ehsanipour is an Iranian-born, California-raised writer, high school Creative Writing teacher, and school librarian. Her work has appeared in the anthology Nonwhite and Woman (Woodhall Press, Sept 2022), streetcake magazine, The Rumpus, Nowruz Journal, South Writ Large Magazine, In Short–The Podcast, Five Minutes, as well as on stage with Golden Thread Productions.
